Archbishop Guire Poulard has replaced Archbishop Serge Miot, who died during the earthquake on January 12, 2010. Bishop Poulard is the tenth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Msgr. Guire Poulard was born on 6 January 1942 in Delatte (Petit-Goâve), at the archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. He made secondary studies at the Lycée Faustin Soulouque in Petit-Goâve, the Collège Notre-Dame de Lourdes in Port-de-Paix, and the Petit Séminaire-Collège Saint Martial, Port-au-Prince.
He continued his philosophical and theological studies at the “Grand Séminaire Notre-Dame”, Port-au-Prince. Bishop Guire was ordained priest on 25 June 1972, for the archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. In 1982-1983, he followed courses of the Pastoral Year at the Institut Théologique des Jeunes Eglises in Lille (France).
He was appointed a bishop of Jacmel on 25 February 1988. On Marth 9th 2009, he was moved to the episcopal seat of Les Cayes.

Msgr. Glandas Marie Erick Toussaint was also appointed as an auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. He was a parish priest of the cathedral in Port-au-Prince, which was completely destroyed during the earthquake on January 12, 2010.
